Astronomy
I have always had a curiousity about the stars, the mystery of their existence and the vastness of the universe (the mystery has mostly deepened as I have learned more).
When I was in grade school, I built a 4" reflector telescope with my
dad.
I still read about astronomy and visit Web sites. I have a Meade
ETX-125 UHTC which has been loads of fun and has brought back many
memories of that first reflector.
I visited Mauna Kea on the Big Island in Hawaii in December, 1996,
and saw the UK Infrared
Telescope, the largest exclusively IR telescope in the world.
I enjoy occasional trips to Mount Evans, which
I can see from the back deck of my home. It has
the world's highest telescope, the
Meyer-Womble
Observatory.
There are loads of neat sites on the Web: the one Web site you will want to be sure to visit is Astroweb.
